The island of Panay, where Iloilo City is located, is separated from Negros Island, where Bacolod City is located, by Guimaras Strait. In between the two islands is the island province of Guimaras. The two islands, Panay and Guimaras, are part of Western Visayas Region while Negros Island is divded into two: Negros Occidental is part of Western Visayas while Negros Oriental is part of Central Visayas.

Traveling to Iloilo from Bacolod shouldn’t be too hard considering the number of transportation options available.

Bacolod to Iloilo

  1. Make your way to the BREDCO Port or Banago Port in Bacolod City. Both seaports are located in Bacolod City.

  2. At the port, purchase a ferry ticket to Iloilo City. There are several ferry companies operating on this route, such as OceanJet, FastCat, and Weesam Express. Check the schedules below and choose a ferry that suits your preference.

    You can also purchase your ticket at the port ahead of time or book online.

  3. Arrive at the ferry terminal at least 30 minutes before the departure time to allow for ticketing and boarding procedures. You will need to pay the terminal fee before boarding.

  4. Once you arrive at the Lapuz Port or Dumangas Port, disembark from the ferry and proceed to the terminal building.

    If you are arriving in Lapuz Port, you can get around the city through jeepney, taxi or modernized bus. Dumangas Port, on the other hand, is located more than 30 kilometers away from the city. You will have to ride a bus or jeepney to get to the city or other towns in the province.

Iloilo to Bacolod

  1. Head to Lapuz Port located in Lapuz, La Paz. You can reach the port by taking a taxi, jeepney or private vehicle.

    If you are taking the FastCat, you will need to proceed to Dumangas Port since the ferry departs from there.
  1. From either ports, you can purchase your ticket bound for Bacolod City. There are several ferry companies operating on this route, such as OceanJet, FastCat, and Weesam Express. Check the schedules below and choose a ferry that suits your preference.

OceanJet and Weesam depart/arrive in BREDCO Port in Bacolod City and Lapuz Port in Iloilo City. FastCat departs/arrives in Banago Port in Bacolod City and Dumangas Port, in the town of Dumangas.
